국가기간 뉴스통신사인 연합뉴스가 6월 30일 영문연감 ‘코리아 애뉴얼(KOREA ANNUAL)' 2014년 판을 발간했다. '코리아 애뉴얼'은 외국 정부기관과 기업.단체, 외국인에게 한국의 모습을 보다 정확히 알리기 위해 연합뉴스가 발행하는 국내 유일의 영문판 연감이다. 이번 연감에는 지난 한 해 한국의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화, 스포츠, 지방 등 분야별 뉴스를 총망라하고 북한 편을 추가해 북한의 정치, 경제, 사회와 남북관계 등을 새롭게 소개했다. 특히 초점으로 첫 여성 대통령 박근혜시대 개막, 국정원 대선개입 의혹, ‘내란음모’ 통합진보당 이석기 의원 구속, 경제민주화와 갑의 횡포 논란, 한국을 빛낸 스포츠스타 류현진?추신수?박인비 맹활약, 대규모 원전 비리와 전력 위기, 최장 철도노조 파업, 개성공단 가동중단 사태 등을 자세히 다뤘다. 본문에는 사진, 그래픽 등을 대폭 확대 했으며 화제의 인물, 정부기관 디렉토리, 각종 연표와 주요 통계를 수록했다. 휴대하며 볼 수 있도록 핸드북 형태로 제작했다. Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's main newswire service, has published the 2014 edition of "Korea Annual," an English almanac that covers all the main events and issues that defined the country last year. This year's edition, published for the second time since 2004, aims to better inform foreign government organizations, businesses and people of South Korea. It is also the only English-language almanac published in the country. The almanac contains all the latest information on South Korea and covers a wide range of areas including politics, economy, society, culture, sports and North Korea. It also contains general information on the country's history, geography, language, customs. In particular, the almanac provides detailed coverage of the opening of era of South Korea's first woman president Park Geun-hye, the longest-ever railway union strike and the shutdown of Kaesong industrial park etc. Various chronological tables, key statistics have also been included. This year, the almanac's layout has been enhanced with photos and graphics. It has been made into a handbook for easier use.
