한국은 콩의 재배와 이용을 시작한 콩의 종주국임에도 불구하고 대부분의 한국 고대사가 그랬듯이 중국 문화에 묻혀 세계에 제대로 알려져 있지 않다. 이 책은 인류 역사상 가장 먼전 콩을 재배하고 식품으로 이용한 한(韓)민족의 콩 이용 역사를 세계에 알리기 위해 설립된 콩박물관 건립을 위해 수집한 자료를 스토리텔링 형태로 정리한 것을 국문과 영문으로 한권에 묶어 펴낸 것이다. 영문 번역은 미국 하버드대학 대학원에서 한국문학을 전공한 다이아나 에반스(Diana Evans)씨가 담당했다.
