Artist¡¯s Statement The medium of my work of art is ink and wash painting, for which I use my body. Making variations of line, I create abstract painting. For me, the subject of my painting is perceived as an image, which I transform into what the gesture of my body makes, so that only my intuition and the traces of my motion are left on the surface of my work. Inspired by the calligraphic character, ¡®Eoiku¡¯ that looks like dripping describes the act and the moment that time belongs to the concept of space. One of my work of art, ¡®Eoiku¡¯ started from the shape of the Chinese character, ¡®ì顯 meaning ¡®one¡¯ in Chinese, and functions as a symbol. It has been through lots of variations implying that one works as a whole. When working on my work of art spontaneously or under certain principles, my brush and paints are like my body, functioning as a tool for my work of art. Like osmosis, the Korean paper, hanji, which makes it possible to spread, drip, and splash ink, so that the feeling of tension gets high and the balance among the compositional formative elements is kept.
